Opening Doors to Opportunity: Elizabeth Griffin-Bennett Shortlisted for Equality Leadership Award
We are incredibly proud to share that our founder and CEO, Elizabeth Griffin-Bennett, has been shortlisted for the Equality Leadership Award at the 2026 Women in FCERM Awards.
This recognition reflects not only Elizabeth’s leadership, but the collective effort behind Constructing Change and the growing movement to make construction and flood and coastal erosion risk management (FCERM) more inclusive, accessible and representative of the communities it serves.
Constructing Change was founded on a simple but powerful idea: that careers in construction and infrastructure should feel visible and achievable for everyone.
Since launching in 2025, that idea has quickly become a practical, working model for change.
Through the Learning in Action programme, Elizabeth has led the opening up of live construction and flood resilience sites to young people, with successful visits to sites in Bewdley, Littleborough, Kendal and Bolton.
By working closely with partners across the public and private sectors, including the Environment Agency and around 20 industry organisations, Elizabeth has helped to embed equality and representation into how projects are delivered and how the industry presents itself to the next generation.
As a result, Constructing Change is not just creating opportunities, but helping to influence a wider cultural shift in how the sector engages with future talent.
Being shortlisted for the Equality Leadership Award is a significant milestone, but for Elizabeth and the wider Constructing Change team, it’s part of a much bigger journey.
The need for a more diverse, skilled and representative workforce in construction and FCERM has never been greater, and the work being done today will shape the future of the sector for years to come.
We’re incredibly proud to see Elizabeth recognised in this way and look forward to attending the awards in June.
